With Retour au Jardin (Back to the Garden), FX Combes leaves behind the closed world of screens and machines to rediscover a more organic dimension. Foliage, branches, plant structures: the image opens up to simple, almost elementary forms, yet imbued with the same tension between control and accident. Here, the garden is not a space for ornamentation, but a territory of resistance. It is a place of life, of the unpredictable, of anarchic growth that escapes all control. Screen printing and technology interact like two complementary gestures: one mechanical, the other organic. Returning to the garden is therefore a return to the essential. It is accepting that the image carries within it a part of shadow, of drift, of uncontrolled luxuriance. It is opening the work to what goes beyond the artist’s intention—to that silent force that inhabits the material.
Avec Retour au Jardin, FX Combes quitte l’univers clos des écrans et des machines pour retrouver une dimension plus organique. Feuillages, branches, trames végétales : l’image s’ouvre à des formes simples, presque élémentaires, mais traversées de la même tension entre maîtrise et accident. Le jardin n’est pas ici un espace d’ornement, mais un territoire de résistance. C’est le lieu du vivant, de l’imprévisible, de la croissance anarchique qui échappe à tout contrôle. Sérigraphie et technologie y dialoguent comme deux gestes complémentaires : l’un mécanique, l’autre organique. Revenir au jardin, c’est donc revenir à l’essentiel. C’est accepter que l’image porte en elle une part d’ombre, de dérive, de luxuriance non maîtrisée.
